The Methane Guiding Principles partnership is made up of Signatories and Supporting Organisations.

A Signatory is a company with direct responsibility for the management of methane within its business activities and which has signed the Methane Guiding Principles. It is represented on the Steering Committee and Methane Guiding Principles Network.

A Supporting Organisation is a global or major regional organisation with demonstrable subject matter expertise on methane emissions and without direct responsibility for management of methane within its business activities. It is represented on the Steering Committee and in the Methane Guiding Principles Network.

Environmental Defense Fund is working collaboratively with the MGP to provide expertise on the technologies, practices and government policies needed to achieve ambitious reductions of methane emissions.

What it means to be a Signatory or a Supporting Organisation

  • Signatories commit to progressing the five Methane Guiding Principles.
  • Signatories will publicly report on how they are meeting the intent of the Methane Guiding Principles – see the reporting section.
  • Each Signatory and Supporting Organisation will support at least one project annually, in-kind and/or financially, that will be publicly reported.
  • Any relevant outputs from completed projects will be made public, where appropriate and via relevant channels.
