The Methane Guiding Principles partnership is a voluntary initiative comprising of Signatories and Supporting Organisations. Signatories and Supporting Organisations recognise the importance of improving performance on managing methane emissions and are committed to advancing the Methane Guiding Principles.
Our Signatories are companies with direct responsibility for the management of methane within their business activities in the oil and gas sector.
A Supporting Organisation is a global or major regional organisation which does not have responsibilities for the management of methane but which has significant expertise on methane.
The role of the Secretariat is to run the administration of the Methane Guiding Principles and set the annual workplan.
From 2020, the Methane Guiding Principles has a dedicated Programme Manager, supported by a Decision Review Board comprising representatives from four Signatories and four Supporting Organisations.
